For the Brave

For any that come by this blog, regardless of what the news says, please know that the people of Iran are being oppressed. They are being killed and injured by the regime. Please pray for them. My heart goes out to those brave souls who entered the streets today to protest what they saw as a fraudulent election.

So please pray and do what you can to support them in these hard times for them.

This brings up an interesting question, though; Are people fighting for what is more than likely a false cause? The election is probably not fraudulent (Ahmedinejad won by 11 million votes. You can't fake that,) so are they justified because they are fighting the present tyranny, but with no desire to replace it with anything else other than their own brand of what we will probably see as tyranny?

Discuss.

I'm not sure. They're certainly entitled to a voice, to be able to protest the results which they have been able to do peacefully before Saturday. I think, especially with the violence yesterday, that it has shifted some. Not so much protesting the results of the election, but more to be able to gather together, to express thoughts and opinions.

Up until then I think they were justified because they truly believe that the results are fraudulent (citing 63% for Ahmedinejad in all areas for example) and were excerizing their political voice to express their disagreement. Though I am only going off what I have read from Twitter, blogs and the news. I'm not exacly sure what they're thinking and their motivations are now.

So I would say they were justified in protesting the results, but because of the violence yesterday it has escalated. So while we ask if the Iranians are justified in their fight, I think we should also ask if the Iranian Gov is itself justified in using violence to crack down on the protests.

As for what they're fighting, or what they hope to achieve, I'm not sure they themselves know because Mussavi is only their leader because he is the 2nd place candidate. I think on some level that the Iranians who wanted to protest could count as a mob, but only to the extent that they were gathering illegally Saturday.

So I think if it continues, they are more justified than they were before. Because before they were protesting the results of the election, but now with the lives that have been lost and the violence that has occurred, I think they are justified in their fight for freedom.

And it isn't just the common people people that say it is a fraud as well.

Some clerics also believe it could be fraudulent as well.

And another thought to consider, the Guardian Counsel said that over 100% voted in 50 cities. So whether or not Ahmadenijad won, there was definetly fraud going on.
