And So It Continues

A few years back I gained asthma from laughing too hard. That sounded like the end of the story, right? Just use the inhaler whenever it is needed, no big deal right?

Well last week I went to renew my prescription for my Albuterol. So they did some standard breathing test thing, and apparently I am breathing at 56% lung capacity. I know, crazy. Maybe I have been breathing this way since 2008, maybe it is a result of the dry pneumonia that I got in January. I don't know. But I was given some pill, so we'll see if my breathing capacity increases at all.

But this just goes to prove that I am right about the fact that I will die from laughter.

I'd Like to Thank the Academy

I'd like to thank the academy for being nominated to win the following two awards; the Kreative and Beautiful blogger awards. Without them, none of this would have been possible. This is such a grand and marvelous day, And I am not so sure of what can be said. I have waited so long to receive these...

Ok, maybe not so much drama, and it was not the Academy who bestowed these awards upon me, but the ever funny Christina. Unless a person can qualify as an academy. Actually, I think she qualifies as a founder for the Academy of Awesomeness. So Headmistress Christina, open your halls of learning and let the awesomeness flow! (That's what she said too)

So, there are some rules or guidelines to receiving these awards, because that is how they roll:

So like all meme/award things, they have some rules or guidelines:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award Check
2. Paste the award on your blog Check
3. Link the person who nominated you for the award Check
4. Tell 7 interesting things about yourself
5. Nominate 7 bloggers or less
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominated

So I'll post 14 interesting things about myself since I suppose I won two awards:

1. I fence. Started in 2005, and I've kept it up on and off. I took classes in 2005 at BYU Idaho and I've been participating in classes down at BYU. I also took a class in Orem, but as it is a professional place, I don't have $65 to spend for two months of training or so. Now I have my open French Grip Foil. Huzzah!

2. Top hats.

They are awesome. I usually wear them at fancy gatherings or parties. Something where I can be dressed formally and socially at the same time. I just feel awesome in them. So usually I like to wear a top hat (cause I have two now) at semi-casual dances or higher formal like. Honestly, I think I just need to wear them more often.

3. Although this did not result from an accident, I cannot turn my right hand palm up. It is something that runs in the family; my dad cannot turn his left hand palm up.

4. Mexico City. I served there from 2005 to 2007. It was awesome. One of my favorite sites was seeing the Iztaccíhuatl every morning as I left my apartment near Chalco. It is a splendid mountain and one that draws me in. There is even a Mayan Legend about the mountain and the nearby volcano, the Iztaccíhuatl, for those who want to read about it.

5. Throughout High school, I was nicknamed Timeking, Fathertime or other such timely appellations. I was called this because I set my watch to the bell every morning and when I started cleaning my stuff up, it signaled to the others in my classes that the bell was to ring soon. And so they ended up asking me how much time was left until the bell rang, and I gave them the time down to the seconds. Now... well it is not really a skill needed in College.

6. As such, I have always worn a watch on my right hand. Even though I am right handed. Yeah, it is weird.

7. I love snow when it falls and I hope to resurrect a certain semi-cultural Snowman.
Basically taking this guy to become this fellow. It would be awesome.

8. Although I am a bit rusty at it, I do like to dance. I have taken a couple of ballroom dance classes and I also like to dance to the Salsa.

9. My laugh. Once I get started, I cannot stop. Depending on the people egging me, I can go for minutes at time, just busting a gut. Doing so gave me asthma a year and a half years ago.

10. I once made a list of the reasons why I thought people would not want to go out with me. I still think it is hilarious.

11. I am a bit of gamer. Both in video games and in board and card games. My computer games are up at my parents place so I do not procrastinate my time with them, but I still have Starcraft with me. My favorite board type game is Settlers of Katan.

12. I can make a whistling sound with my hands. By cupping them together and blowing into them, it oftentimes sounds like a bird call.

13. An interesting pet peeve is perhaps the attitude of the BYU/Happy Valley bubble. Although people can be stuck in their own little world, especially since Provo is a college town and most people are taking classes. My point is that I tire of hearing of the bubble as if things are lame here and that people are judgmental. Does it exist in people? Yes, and there are probably places that are better about it. But just as well, there are many places that are just as bad. So it is just the attitude that I don't get or like. If you do not like how things are, change them. Whether it is how BYU students act or people in general, or whatever. Try and change it. You are free to complain a bit, but the "bubble" isn't a Utah Valley problem only.

14. I like to watch hockey. I have a good friend, Alan who is in a local league and secondary string goalee. I like going to his games and shouting myself hoarse at them. It is quite fun.

And so without further ado, *drumroll* I nominate the follow spectacular people for an award: The ever awesome and ever funny, lovely Alexandria. A fellow BYU blog writer and good friend, Katie. Rachel, who is a truly awesome girl, a one of a kind friend and awesome photographer. She is the one who was gracious enough to take the pictures of me in fencing gear and sported in a top hat. The Green Giant. He is truly a man that towers over men, literally. He is awesome and needs to blog more. Amanda, cause she is awesome, a woman that proclaims the truth and someone I hope to get to know. I also nominate Jake and Calvin, cause they make me laugh. A final nomination goes to Nicki, who is awesome to talk to and is not worried about pursuing her dreams and striving to be happy. I wish her luck in everything.

I think that adds up to 7 people. Have a fun Friday night all!

Dear Anonymous E-mailer,

Dear Anonymous E-mailer,

I received your message, or rather your proposition. Seeing as you used some totally bogus e-mail address to write to me, you leave me no other choice but to respond here. Maybe the only clue from the e-mail as to who you are is that you have a Verizon Wireless Blackberry (It appears to be from an automatic signature, but may not necessarily be so) but that doesn't matter, nor do I have any desire to start polling people to find out who has a blackberry with Verizon. It just won't do any good.

Now I can understand where you're coming from, I'm on the market, I'm available, so why not start dating the person you suggested? But that of course is only implied in what you said, your real argument is in the one and only sentence in the e-mail, that says: "She's totally got the hots for you." Yeah, I get what you're saying, there's a cute girl who I get along with alright, we're pretty good friends, and she has the hots for me apparently, so why shouldn't I go out with her?

I mean, it seems a valid enough reason to go out with a girl right? I mean, what rational guy wouldn't go for something like that? (For the record, I am anything but rational) But, no offense to the girl with whom you wish me to date, I digress and admit that most likely such a thing will not occur.

Now you, and probably the girl in question are most likely wondering why, why I won't go out with her. Well, I'll answer you in this!:

Nanti's Guide As to Why You, or Anyone Else, Should Not Date Him

  1. Think of the Children. I'm not really responsible to take care of them, in fact they'd probably grow up to be punk anarchists bent on bringing civilization to it's knee's, regardless of how good their mother is. And with the girl in question, well the odds are highly likely that we'd raise our kids to be ruthless dictators bent on conquering the world.

  2. I'm Crazy. No, really. Ask anyone. I am totally bonkers. That may be one reason why the girl in question has the supposed 'hots' for me, that she's attracted to strange creepers, such as I, but that's not really healthy for any kind of relationship really.

  3. My Asthma. Yes I do have asthma. Heavy laughter actually triggers it. I'm likely to die in my early thirties because of asphyxiation due to a collapsed lung while laughing, and with the young lady in question, I'd probably die before I hit 27. And no one needs the grief of indirectly killing me. Unless of course you are after my vast fortune, which coincidentally doesn't exist. I guess I could be down with that.

  4. On a somewhat logical note, I am taking independent study courses, and behind in the schedule I have set for myself. I don't really have to time to really dedicate to any type of relationship.

  5. I have no job at the moment. This doesn't bode well for any relationship. So I have no shiny monies to which pamper the girl in question. Or even take her out. I guess she could pay, but she undoubtedly has plans for all that well-gotten gain. Who am I to let her spend it on me?

  6. Summer plans. The girl in question has summer plans of one sort or another, so even a Mormon summer fling would be out. (Not that I would have one anyway.) I will still have my independent study courses and hopefully a job, so I'll be busy.

  7. Monastic Vows. Due to recent events, I've decided to find a monastery that will permit me to go out on dates with the female variety, but not steadily date them. So once that order of monks is found, any relationship will surely interfere with my monastic duties.

  8. Personal Issues. Things such as procrastinating, low self esteem and other such things make for a boring guy. I'd hate to bore anyone by being a stick in the mud

  9. Destiny. I've checked, the stars are against any such union, with anyone. It is written in the stars for me to be a single bachelor for the foreseeable future. Going against the stars will surely bring about Ragnarok, the Apocalypse and every other end-of-the-world prediction; all working in union and harmony for maximum destruction. It would make most people unhappy if such were to occur.

  10. Cause a little birdie told me not to. How much more of a reason do I need?

  11. My alternate personality likes raw fish, is an introvert and likes jewelry, specifically gold rings forged in volcanoes. It wouldn't work, trust me.

  12. I am a soulless abomination. Ok, maybe I'm not an abomination, yet. But I am soulless. It was placed in a flask and whisked away by a small four year old girl, who has taken it who knows where. This will surely create conflicts in the years to come.

  13. Zombies. I'm not sure why zombies don't want me to date anyone, but they don't. It's best to not ask questions

So there you have it, at least twelve reasons why you shouldn't date me. If you need more, ask Chilly. She can probably think of a lot more reasons as to why not go out with me, so if you don't trust my word, I call her as a witness to my madness if needs be.
So in short, don't do it. You'll be a lot more happy and healthier without going out with me, and that's a fact. Even the surgeon general recommends avoiding such things with me, and would you want to go against the suggestions of a such a highly regarded health professional? I thought not.

More asthma stuff

Yeah. So asthma stinks when trying to exercise. It means I need to start running more often so I don't have an asthma attack 10 minutes in. It's not fun, especially when trying to do things, such as wield a sword while fencing.

It is definitely official

Ok folks, here is what is new, it is a little late but yeah, I definitely have asthma. I made an appointment to see the family doctor on Friday, so I drive up after work to his office in West Jordan to see him. I must say he does have some cute secretaries. But back to point. He gave me this breathing test analyzer thing, so I breathed into it a few times and when the results came in, it did show some asthma in my lungs. So now I have the medicinal inhaler which helps heals me, and has actually helped a lot actually, the Albuterol stuff for emergency attacks, and cough medicine. But all in all, I am doing better. My voice is a little hoarse from coughing and the like, but I am doing well.
As for Saturday, apart from laundry, I didn't do anything productive at all. That needs to stop happening. Bad me!

It could be worse...

Here I am at work, and I not enjoying the stifled breathing at all, had a strange and disturbing thought pop into my head. I was reading something completely unrelated to work, and along comes this thought "It could be worse, you could have the chicken pox as well." Now that there is a rather unpleasant thought, considering I have never had chicken pox ever. My siblings have had it, in different years, so I have been exposed, but I have never had it.

A greater question is that why are all the desks around me made of plastic and the doors too far to go knock on wood?

I am doomed

So... faced with the possibility that I may have asthma, I looked it up to find out more information. It wasn't until I looked at the irritants that I realized that I am truly doomed. I can see how I die now, laughing so hard that it causes a major asthma attack and collapsing my lungs. It sounds painful. I would have preferred to laugh so hard that my heart just fails and explodes, or a major blood vessel in my brain exploding, causing me to die a quick painless death. All I can hope for is that suffocating isn't terribly painful.

Having asthma sucks

It was the dead of night, with only the glow of the computer screen, his roommates snoring and the oddly glowing interface of the alarm clock to surround him. He glanced at the clock, and upon seeing the time had slightly advanced past midnight, he decided it was time to retire.

Everything seemed fine to him as he climbed into bed, but as he lay down, he soon felt the attack. It came out of no where, no matter which way he turned, no matter what side he lay on, he felt the attack, the odd sensation of abdominal muscles spasming and the short quick breaths, the heaving.

He leaped out bed, dodging what was probably his backpack and reaching for the one the weapon that, the one defense to save to him... he took a puff of it, and felt a little of the its effects and a minute later another one helped strengthen him further, when he could finally breathe normally again, he climbed into bed, hearing distant screams of promises of revenge as he faded into sleep....

So, all I can say is that this sucks.

Oh so much laughter

I may have told a few of you this story, or maybe bits and pieces. Anyways, my friend the Master of Glayven was getting on my case about my blog being dead. Such as I have felt these past few days.

For those who don't know me, I am a long deep laughter, where I laugh so much I cry and my face turns shades of red (Along with occasional lightning quick headaches) and it takes a few minutes to calm down.
Along happens Friday night where I am hanging out with some friends, things quickly became silly, and I began to laugh at every little thing, especially the face that my friend Ghostlily makes. She has this excellent fake crying face, but since I know it is fake, and since I have been raised with a sister who also does such an impression of faked criery, I just laugh it off. Now, with her making that face, along with other statements and an impression of Thing from the Adams family, it got me going on and off for hours. By around 11 or so at night, I was feeling off balance, either being light headed or just too much blood in the brain, I don't know, but it has been furthest I have gone laughing. I even started sending fake will statements to various friends via text message, to the point of hilariously confounding a friend Super Atomic Genius, that I was committing suicide and that she needed to call. (She only got part of the message for some reason.)

To be brief, since Saturday I have been feeling like crap, thinking maybe I agitated my body into getting the beginnings of Bronchitis because I could not breathe deeply and my heart always seemed like it was racing. Today I go to the doctor, and he began to think it was that, but I haven't felt the other symptoms, to feel bronchitis sick. As soon as I tell him as my spasmodic laugh attack, he decides to give me a breathing treatment, the same one used for people with Asthma I believe, and lo and behold, when it is done, I can breathe deeply again.

So, at the present time I have an inhaler to help me, it may not be full asthma yet, we're not sure, but if it is, then this is the one time that laughter does heal, but harms...

I will be loading video up within the next few days of my adventures Friday night.
