Meaning of Names

Apparently there is this facebook meme going around to look up what your name means in Urbandictionary. I at first was skeptical, but then I took a look and realized that it thinks my name is awesome. At least the first entry does.

First name: A name that represents honor, caressing, and love. Also known to be a very romantic person, or very successful person in life.

And for Sam, well I am going to skip the first entry and post the others:

Sexy Attractive Male, Sam is a very common name. it is usually given to people who are very cool indeed. people by the name Sam are the greatest.

So what are yours?

I'd Like to Thank the Academy

I'd like to thank the academy for being nominated to win the following two awards; the Kreative and Beautiful blogger awards. Without them, none of this would have been possible. This is such a grand and marvelous day, And I am not so sure of what can be said. I have waited so long to receive these...

Ok, maybe not so much drama, and it was not the Academy who bestowed these awards upon me, but the ever funny Christina. Unless a person can qualify as an academy. Actually, I think she qualifies as a founder for the Academy of Awesomeness. So Headmistress Christina, open your halls of learning and let the awesomeness flow! (That's what she said too)

So, there are some rules or guidelines to receiving these awards, because that is how they roll:

So like all meme/award things, they have some rules or guidelines:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award Check
2. Paste the award on your blog Check
3. Link the person who nominated you for the award Check
4. Tell 7 interesting things about yourself
5. Nominate 7 bloggers or less
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominated

So I'll post 14 interesting things about myself since I suppose I won two awards:

1. I fence. Started in 2005, and I've kept it up on and off. I took classes in 2005 at BYU Idaho and I've been participating in classes down at BYU. I also took a class in Orem, but as it is a professional place, I don't have $65 to spend for two months of training or so. Now I have my open French Grip Foil. Huzzah!

2. Top hats.

They are awesome. I usually wear them at fancy gatherings or parties. Something where I can be dressed formally and socially at the same time. I just feel awesome in them. So usually I like to wear a top hat (cause I have two now) at semi-casual dances or higher formal like. Honestly, I think I just need to wear them more often.

3. Although this did not result from an accident, I cannot turn my right hand palm up. It is something that runs in the family; my dad cannot turn his left hand palm up.

4. Mexico City. I served there from 2005 to 2007. It was awesome. One of my favorite sites was seeing the Iztaccíhuatl every morning as I left my apartment near Chalco. It is a splendid mountain and one that draws me in. There is even a Mayan Legend about the mountain and the nearby volcano, the Iztaccíhuatl, for those who want to read about it.

5. Throughout High school, I was nicknamed Timeking, Fathertime or other such timely appellations. I was called this because I set my watch to the bell every morning and when I started cleaning my stuff up, it signaled to the others in my classes that the bell was to ring soon. And so they ended up asking me how much time was left until the bell rang, and I gave them the time down to the seconds. Now... well it is not really a skill needed in College.

6. As such, I have always worn a watch on my right hand. Even though I am right handed. Yeah, it is weird.

7. I love snow when it falls and I hope to resurrect a certain semi-cultural Snowman.
Basically taking this guy to become this fellow. It would be awesome.

8. Although I am a bit rusty at it, I do like to dance. I have taken a couple of ballroom dance classes and I also like to dance to the Salsa.

9. My laugh. Once I get started, I cannot stop. Depending on the people egging me, I can go for minutes at time, just busting a gut. Doing so gave me asthma a year and a half years ago.

10. I once made a list of the reasons why I thought people would not want to go out with me. I still think it is hilarious.

11. I am a bit of gamer. Both in video games and in board and card games. My computer games are up at my parents place so I do not procrastinate my time with them, but I still have Starcraft with me. My favorite board type game is Settlers of Katan.

12. I can make a whistling sound with my hands. By cupping them together and blowing into them, it oftentimes sounds like a bird call.

13. An interesting pet peeve is perhaps the attitude of the BYU/Happy Valley bubble. Although people can be stuck in their own little world, especially since Provo is a college town and most people are taking classes. My point is that I tire of hearing of the bubble as if things are lame here and that people are judgmental. Does it exist in people? Yes, and there are probably places that are better about it. But just as well, there are many places that are just as bad. So it is just the attitude that I don't get or like. If you do not like how things are, change them. Whether it is how BYU students act or people in general, or whatever. Try and change it. You are free to complain a bit, but the "bubble" isn't a Utah Valley problem only.

14. I like to watch hockey. I have a good friend, Alan who is in a local league and secondary string goalee. I like going to his games and shouting myself hoarse at them. It is quite fun.

And so without further ado, *drumroll* I nominate the follow spectacular people for an award: The ever awesome and ever funny, lovely Alexandria. A fellow BYU blog writer and good friend, Katie. Rachel, who is a truly awesome girl, a one of a kind friend and awesome photographer. She is the one who was gracious enough to take the pictures of me in fencing gear and sported in a top hat. The Green Giant. He is truly a man that towers over men, literally. He is awesome and needs to blog more. Amanda, cause she is awesome, a woman that proclaims the truth and someone I hope to get to know. I also nominate Jake and Calvin, cause they make me laugh. A final nomination goes to Nicki, who is awesome to talk to and is not worried about pursuing her dreams and striving to be happy. I wish her luck in everything.

I think that adds up to 7 people. Have a fun Friday night all!

Not Tuesday's Ten

So I am bored and yanked this meme from Alexandria's blog. I figure no need to wait until Tuesday. Although if people want to e-mail me here then I will make it a semi-regular thing on my blog.

1) Are you usually late, early, or right on time? It depends, I strive to be on time, but I am either often early or a little late so it averages to arriving on time. That is what I prefer though.

2) What is your middle name? Umm, seeing how this is a blogger name, we could say 'Nanti'. Or we could all assume it exists somewhere, waiting to be found.

3) What are the last four digits of your cell phone number? 8996.

4) How big is your bed? It is a regular bed, a bunk bed actually. I think it is a twin.

5) What are you allergic to? I do not believe I am allergic to anything actually.

6) What is the first thing you do in the morning? Being honest here, I jump out of bed, use the restroom and then either eat breakfast or shower.

7) What was your favorite tv show when growing up? Full House, Pokemon, Step By Step, Family Matters, Boy Meets World, Sabrina the Teenage Witch (high school years). Those are what I watched and enjoyed.

8) Will you, or did you, go to your ten year high school reunion? I most likely will. We will see though. There are some people that I would definitely like to see, others, not so much.

9) If a tree falls in a forest and nobody is there to hear it, does it still make a sound? It depends on if the monkeys have set up a pulley system that is well oiled, designed to catch the tree so it falls without a sound. Or if the tree falls into a bottomless pit. That factors in as well.

10) What, in your opinion, is the greatest invention? Geeky answer is the silicon P an N gate transistors. Because of those, we have computers and every other device that uses microchips.

Facebook Meme Time

As I'm getting sick and have nothing of interest to try and make humorous, I thought I would do this meme thing that my brother tagged me on in Facebook. Something about 50 questions... Ask more if you so desire. So, to put a spin on it, I'll give two answers. One is the serious answer, one is the silly answer. It's up to you to determine which is which. Or I may just give one answer, depending on the question.

So yeah. Feel free to ask more I suppose.

Meme(ish) Time

It's been a while since I've done one of the meme quizzes that float about, and it's a Tuesday morning. So I can either post weird math jokes and experiences later on that happen as I attempt to keep my sanity in the Math lab, or I can do this. I chose this.

This quiz courtesy of Larissa, a girl in my last ward, who may not know who I am...

1.What's your current obsession?
Obsession as in something I do all day? Finishing up this blasted Linear Algebra independent study class I'm taking.

2.What's your zodiacal sign? Do you identify with it?
I'm a Taurus, I don't give a hoot about astrology usually, but for the sake of the blog, I'll post today's horoscope. In the daily horoscope thing from Horoscope.com it says:
You've had a day or two to think about your new business opportunity. This window could close at any time, so you need to make a move immediately. Take what information you have, form a solid opinion, and stick to it until someone else comes up with something better.

3.What are you wearing today?
Shorts and T-shirt that I slept in.

4.What's the last thing you purchased?
Divine Comedy Tickets, I think.

5.What do you think about the person who blog I took this from?
She's awesome, smiles a lot and strives to be happy.

6.What's for dinner?
Most likely Mac and Cheese

7.What's your favorite decade?
Let's go with whichever decade best fits in the Elizabethan Era.

8.What are your summer must haves?
Umm, a job? Fun? Sun? I don't really know.

9.What would you love to do?
Travel to Mexico again. Take over the world. Mess with the Space Time-continuum. Get more in shape. Hack into major porn sites and replace all the images there with Barney in a speedo.

10. What's your favorite item from your wardrobe?
My top hat.

11.What's your dream job?
I'd like to do ethical/anti-hacking for the government sometime down the road, protect national networks from all sorts of hackers.

12.What's your favorite magazine?
The Ensign, I don't read others too much. No money.

13.What's the biggest fashion faux pas?
Wearing all red and being barefoot?

14.Describe your style.
Usually jeans and a t-shirt. Throw in some nicer shirts on occasion for some spice. And the wearing of Top hats every now and then.

15.Favorite Beatle?
Umm, Pass.

16.What are your proud of?
I'm almost done with my math class. I'm proud to be a member of the LDS Church, I suppose. I'm proud... of being proud? I dunno.

Use The Force Meme

So you know that Facebook meme that go around telling you put as your status the 5th sentence of the 56th page of the nearest book to you? Well a friend sort of linked me to, and I decided to look at the sentence to see what it says.

So, with slight editing to make it fit, my status would be, 'Sam, the Nanti-SARRMM lets people know what he wants them to do or think.'

Original sentence is 'Let people know what you want them to do or think.'

All this from my English technical communications textbook.

I think this explains my random statements of wanting to take over the world. School has incited me to do it.

So if I do take over the world, we only have the school system to blame.

If I Had a Band, This Might be What It'd be Called.

I saw this on Facebook and I thought I'd try it.

1 - Go to Wikipedia to view a random article.
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.
This is where my quote came from. (You can click on the quote to go to the page

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
My album photo courtesy of Turin

4 - Use Photoshop or something similar to put it all together.

5 - Now tag whoever you wish, like anyone who reads this before Sunday at 8:00 pm, to do the same.

Oddly enough, I think mine is slightly ironic.

I Already Did This!

Well a few days ago Yellow M&M tagged me to write seven random things about myself, and had it been anything else, I would have done it immediately, but I thought I had done something like it before, and by searching, it appears that I indeed have done this exact meme before, except without the small graphic.

Of course I will do this one, but so you all know, if there are any future memes that are repeated, I won't do them and I am not tagging anyone except Katydid and Unit of Energy as I don't think they did it before, even though they have already been tagged.

Also, you want seven random things. You're crazy right? But I suppose I will thwart claims that I am not spontaneous enough. Yes Chillylint, I am speaking to you. Cheesecake! OK, that was more random than spontaneous, but it doesn't matter.

1. I can oink like a pig.

2. I can also flare my nose.

3. I am amused and enthralled slightly at how the two make Katydid laugh.

4. My girlfriend and I share the same birthday. Luckily it's not on the same day.

5. Unit of Energy and Heavens To, Katydid's roommates, might make me a part of their family order. It's complicated, I may divulge later.

6. I almost immediately recognize any rainbow that leads from Earth to another place as the bridge to Asgard.

7. I say #6 because I watched Thor Vs The Hulk last night where the Hulk ripped Thor a new one.

And a bonus:

8. I am about to entreat myself to some of Katydid's home cooking. I have never tasted it before, and if this is my last post, you'll know why.

So farewell, until we meet again!

Albeit Wednesday?

Well Alishka Babushka did a letter thing the other day, and offered to give out some letters, so I requested jeopardy style to buy a vowel, and got the letter A.

So This is: An Arrangement of Averred inAanimate Assets that I Appreciate.

1. Apples! Totally delicious.
2. Appositives. I don't know why. It just sounds cool.
3. Apples to Apples. That game is hilarious to play.
4. Age of Empires 3. I got it for Christmas and I am just getting into it.
5. The Aaronic Priesthood.
6. Abe Lincoln. That is one funny comic. He was also a good president.
7. Being Ablush. Well not really, I just do it a lot.
8. Abnormalcy. Without it, we'd all just be normal.
9. The Abolition of slavery. That's always a good thing to enjoy and be grateful for. Although if slavery were still legal today, then I'd probably have my own share of slaves since my Dad's side of the family comes from Mississippi and the deep south. Well, had my Grandparents not moved out to Utah, I'd probably have slaves waiting hand and foot on me. So tell me again why it is good when they could do my homework for me? (In case anyone gets offended, I am totally kidding.)
10. Antibodies. Need I say more?

And like Alishka, I will be handing out letters to those who want them. Giant, you get F. The rest of you can have a different letter if you so choose.

Just Following the Crowd

Well... I was thinking about doing it with exuberance and make it over the top... maybe I still will...

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before? I had my first girlfriend. I also walked on the moon looking for that space Nazi military encampment.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I have no clue what goals I set last year, or any resolutions I may have made. So I will say that No, because the world isn't under my control, and I have to try harder this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Well... there are a few girls I went out with... Nah, just kidding, No one I know has given birth.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Me. I have yet to rise from the metaphorical grave, but I am working on it.

5. What countries did you visit? None of them will let me in anymore due to suspicious circumstances of my visits, so sadly enough I did not visit any countries last year. I think I'll try to sneak past the Canadian border this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? Self control, a realistic view of myself, to be a better person, and One Million Dollars. Or a small country.

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? The 24th or 31st of January last year... I don't remember which and it is no longer that important. And I'll say the day I found the Board MB.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? I survived. I also stopped working at Walmart. (They were tired of me planning assassination attempts on my superiors to get promoted.)

9. What was your biggest failure?
I failed to start my campaign for the 2024 Presidency.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I may have only gotten sick a little. Of course the full answer depends on if insanity is an illness or not.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Peace of mind. It hasn't arrived yet though.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My good friend Alan. He merits plenty of celebration.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? My left hand man Gary. He lost that shipment of Nuclear warheads. Also, there is my own, for internal D'art-like battles that still are being waged privately to this day. For those of who know what that means, I am winning, but not by much.

14. Where did most of your money go? Evil scientist experiments, er, um, I mean school.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The start of Fall semester I was really excited. And then I lost it after.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Whatever song was being played when the Hindenburg went down.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?
A little happier.
b) thinner or fatter? I think a little heavier.
c) richer or poorer? At the moment, richer.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Schoolwork and studying. Also a little more flirting on the side could have been nice.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Worrying. Procrastinating.

20. How did you spend Christmas? With my family, and not attempting to kidnap and ransom Santa Claus.

21. Did you fall in love in 2008? Yes. I think I still am too.

22. What was your favorite TV program? House and Smallville.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Hate? Nope. Except Sasquatch, but that is because he won't pay me back the money he owes me.

24. What was the best book you read? Still reading it, but Tale of Two Cities has been good.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery? I am still looking actually.

26. What did you want and get? Good friends.

27. What did you want and not get? Everything else.

28. What was your favorite film of this year? Iron Man, or the Dark Knight.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Hung out if I recall, and I was 22. I'm 25 now. I'm not sure how that happened though.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? That is so loaded a question that I think the moon is falling out of orbit.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? My what now?

32. What kept you sane? I never was, and am even further from sanity than the year before.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I dunno, let's say Anne Hathaway.

34. What political issue stirred you the most? The election coverage and Gay Marriage.

35. Who did you miss? Peeps from Mexico, my soul, the cute red headed girl...

36. Who was the best new person you met? Bob, Chilly, Fred, Yellow M&M, and the others from the mb.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008. Just put your trust in the Lord and do it! And I don't think he wants me to conquer the world...

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. Any song about a redo or a second chance would fit. Maybe a song with a time machine in it.
